Dana’s distribution partner in Brazil, Hybrid e-Controls is making its first successful foray into the embedded closed loop vehicle controls market with an initial product sale to the Instituto Mauá de Tecnologia in São Paulo. In order to generate interest in the OpenECU™ toolchain, Hybrid e-Controls has built a professional demonstration system based on single cylinder engine control using an M250 OpenECU controller with an injector and throttle body as part of a custom application harness.
Marcos Langeani of Hybrid e-Controls said “The visual demonstration that this rig allows is highly effective in showing the prospect clients how easy and quick it is to implement new strategies with the OpenECU system.”

Dana is a proud sponsor of the University of Michigan’s Supermileage project and were in attendance at the unveiling ceremony for the 2014 entrant. The following is taken from the team’s recent newsletter:
“On Thursday, April 3rd, UM Supermileage had a very successful unveiling of our new vehicle, Cypress, at the Cobo Center in Detroit. Mayor Mike Duggan and NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski both spoke about the team and made the big announcement that Shell Eco-marathon will be held in Detroit in 2015! We are so excited to have this great competition coming to our home state! The unveiling was a great opportunity for our sponsors and students to meet with Shell and Detroit city officials, and we also had the chance to speak with high school Supermileage members from University of Detroit Jesuit. We hope to see many of them on our team next year. Special thanks to Dana for coming down to Detroit and supporting us!”

Dana LLC. announced today that it has opened an office in the Michigan China Center in Shanghai, China. The center provides a Chinese office presence for Dana with experienced, in-country export services staff. This state-of-the-art business center is strategically located in the center of Shanghai in the JW Marriott Building in Tomorrow Square.

The University of Michigan’s Supermileage Team is using Dana’s OpenECU platform to assist in the development of their 2014 SAE Supermilage competion entry. The team is designing a lightweight, streamlined and tightly packaged vehicle and is modifying a small lawnmower engine to implement their vision of fuel efficient vehicle performance.
The University of Michigan has a long-standing tradition of excellence in automotive engineering and Dana is proud to be involved as a supporter as the team go for their goal of beating the North American record of 3,169 mpg, and achieve competitive success in the SAE Supermileage and other fuel economy events around the world.

Dana is pleased to announce the appointment of Hybrid e-Controls of São José dos Campos as Distributor for its OpenECU™ technology in Brazil. Hybrid e-Controls manufacture Diagnostic and Service tools for diesel engine customers, and have a strong capability in engine development and vehicle systems engineering. Located in the heart of the Brazilian automotive industry research base, Hybrid e-Controls is ideally placed to represent Dana’s products and services in that market.

Dana is pleased to announce that Accurate Technologies Inc. (ATI) are to provide local sales and application engineering support for Pi’s customers in India. The two companies have worked together in the UK for several years and following the establishment of ATI’s office in Bangalore recently, the relationship has now been extended to cover India.

ATI India will be the first port of call for customers in the region looking to buy from Pi’s range of OpenECU control modules. In addition, ATI will help provide customers access to Pi’s Engineering Services capabilities, developing control systems for a wide range of applications, including engine management, after treatment, chassis, transmission and hybrid/electric vehicles.

The Armored Group (TAG) and Dana have jointly developed a new active ride control system for use on armored civilian, commercial and government vehicles.
The TAG/Dana Active Ride Control System (ARCS) replaces a vehicle’s standard passive shock absorbers with an electronically controlled active damping system (utilizing one of Dana’s OpenECU controllers) , which improves vehicle stability and ride comfort over a wide range of terrains and vehicle speeds.
Currently the TAG/Dana ARCS system is available as an installed option on TAG-built armored Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, the GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. Several other similar vehicle types have ARCS packages currently in development. Systems for larger heavy-duty Military and Law Enforcement vehicles are also planned.
