Dana M560 and M580 OpenECU modules achieve TÜV SÜD certification to ISO 26262 ASIL D
With the OpenECU M560 or M580 Supervisory Controllers and CCS (Combined Charging System) control strategy software, customers get Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) and Charge Management Unit (CMU) functions integrated in one module i.e. two ECUs for the price of one. Dana’s CCS Control Strategies manage the charging session for AC charging and DC fast charging implementing Combined Charging System adhering to SAE J1772 and DIN 70121 standards.
New Product: Pi-EVCC – A Dedicated Charge Controller for AC and DC Fast Charging
Just released! The Pi-EVCC is a standalone off-the-shelf charging control unit designed by Dana to meet the requirements of an Electric Vehicle Charging Controller (EVCC).
This ECU’s design is based on Dana’s proven production M560 (12V) and M580 (24V) ECUs that provide integrated Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) and Vehicle Charge Control Unit (VCCU) functionality. The Pi-EVCC has both platform and application software development complete and pre-flashed on the ECU. This product is ready for you to plug ‘n play for AC and DC Fast Charging following SAE J1772 and DIN 70121 standards.
Let’s talk Functional Safety: ECU Microcontroller Architecture design
The ISO 26262 functional safety standard requires individual ECUs to strategically utilize unique system architecture designs. Dana’s M560 and M580 (integrated VCU and VCCU solutions) both implement a dual microcontroller architecture. We receive questions comparing a multi-core single
microcontroller architecture to a dual micro approach. In this blog post, we compare both design choices and how they successfully achieve functional safety goals.
Hexagon Studio Uses Dana OpenECU Modules for EV / HEV Supervisory Control
Hexagon Studio is a design and engineering service provider with a primary focus on EV integration and control software. Hexagon has used several Dana products for low floor minibus, plug-in hybrid work truck, three-wheeler cargo-passenger vehicle, and wheelchair accessible taxi applications to name but a few. In this case study, Hexagon and Dana describe the various projects in electrification and mobility that has been enabled by
OpenECU.
